LOSSAN | Traffic Jam

Context:

As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing brand storytelling and audience engagement, the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency needed content that would capture the essence of the Pacific Surfliner experience.

LOSSAN sought a partner who could create compelling digital assets—both videos and photos—that would bring the train journey to life, inspire ridership, and strengthen the brand’s connection with its audience.

Strategy:

To bring this vision to life, Oak Leaf Productions was selected to collaborate closely with LOSSAN’s in-house marketing and communications team. Our goal was to provide expert photography and videography services that would expand their content library and support their creative ambitions.

Idea:

Through captivating visuals, we told the Pacific Surfliner’s story in a way that resonated emotionally with travelers, fostering a deeper connection and ultimately encouraging ridership. The refreshed content also highlighted the train’s unique onboard experience, showcasing the comfort, convenience, and scenic beauty that define the journey. This was key in reinforcing the Surfliner as a compelling transportation alternative for both current and potential riders.

Results:

Over the past 18 months, we’ve delivered more than 700 pieces of content, significantly expanding LOSSAN’s asset library and enhancing its marketing efforts. A prime example was the 2024 X Games, where our content helped develop advertising materials—contributing to a 39% increase in ridership and a 21% uptick in promotional code usage.

Additionally, the enriched content library fueled a 20% increase in organic content posts, allowing LOSSAN to engage audiences more consistently. In Q4, bookings jumped from 10,874 in 2023 to 21,547 in 2024, while ridership nearly doubled from 24,493 to 47,109.

These results reinforce our belief that authentic, human-centered content plays a crucial role in engaging consumers and driving meaningful impact.
